descrizione

Designed by Gio Ponti for Cassina in the 1950s, this pair of Model 516 armchairs exemplifies Ponti’s design vision, which was oriented toward a continuous pursuit of lightness, proportion, and structural simplicity. The cherry wood frame, defined by clean lines and a distinctly architectural profile, supports an upholstered seat covered in light-colored fabric with contrasting brown side panels. The clean lines of the design, combined with the refined woodworking and the carefully calibrated angle of the structural elements, give the piece a measured formal presence—an expression of a design in which technique and elegance are perfectly harmonized.
